As a vehicle with an SmartPass Access Tag attached enters a drive lane controlled by an TransCore SmartPass Antenna, the tag is automatically read and the corresponding account information is checked in the access system. If the account is valid, the AVI System will vend the corresponding barrier gate, overhead door, etc., and the vehicle will enter/exit the facility.

License plate and battery assisted access tags are available for those vehicles which may have a problem with the standard windshield transponder. RevCon's NPLC or ALC Lane Controller is the interface of choice for enhanced flexibility with configuration and controlling AVI and other readers.
